Canon M500i blackouts whilst recording ?

Hello

Just wondered if anyone has come across this ? Basically I play a DV from my camcorder (Canon M500i) and record to my Panasonic HS2 via the DV cable. If there are gaps on the DV tape (say 30 seconds) between footage the HS2 doesn't seem to recognise that the image has come back, and just stays black as if there is no signal.....but on the camcorder it is playing the next bit of footage fine

I checked the manual and it does mention abonmalous (spell?) footage, which I think means what I have described above...but is there a way to fix it ? I don't want to record via composite or S-Vid......can anyone help ?

Thanks in advance
