analogue tapes to dvd recorder

Hi
i have 8mm tapes and wish to convert to dvd.
i have tried a straight connection to panasonic dmr-e30
In sp mode i end up with frames half picture and half black screen when i take it to edit on my pc.
would i need to run the connection thro an analogue to digital convertor first

Hi Grayt, do your camcorder dub recordings play back OK on the E30 and are you recording onto DVD-RAM discs or DVD-R?

It may be that your editing software just doesn't like mpeg2 files.

yes they playback fine on the e30 no problems and yes recording to dvd-ram
i`ll try different software
