Video Editing & Camcorders..

Can anyone help / advise me ?

I'm looking for a good distance learning video editing course, preferably in Premier 6.5. I'm a total novice so it would need to start with the very basics. Also I'm looking to upgrade my camcorder. I have a Panasonic NVDS8 mini DV camcorder which has been quite good, but is a few years old now. Any suggestions as to likely models to upgrade to ?

I've never done any proffessional training myself, but I have seen this company advertising each month in 'Computer Video Editing' mag and they do computer/internet bassed training.

Might be worth a look.
