Canon model names/numbers

Many Camcorder review sites are US based and I am researching a replacement for my old analogue camcorder.

The US sites use Canon USA model names which are different from those used by Canon in the UK. Now I assume they are the same models customised for the different market and TV system. Sony use consistent numbers as do Panasonic.

Anyone know how to match up the Canon UK model number with the US model name?

Yes, I'll list you some ...

NTSC models = PAL models

ZR 80/85/90 = MV700i/730i/750i
ELURA 60/65/70 = MVX200i/230i/250i
OPTURA Xi = MVX3i
OPTURA 30/40 = MVX20i/25i ------- NEW !

Glad to help you ... I've gone crazy (before you did) for this subject so I've extensively surfed the web and made comparisons to find out the matches...
