Unhappy Pinnacle Studio 8.3.17 Make Movie DVCODEC.DLL error

Having read other peoples problems with Studio 8, I have been able to set up my computer, just for editing. This has cured most of the troubles, but I have one major problem left. That is when I have finished an edit and go to output to tape, Studio has to close because of an error in DVCODEC.DLL.
When I first used the program, I had no problems at all. I made several AVI. files, output 2 projects to tape and made 2 VCD's. then when I came to edit another project, problems started. Since then I have removed the software completely and reinstalled, twice.
Before using Studio, I remove all unwanted start-up programs, stop screen saver, stop energy saver and keep over 200Mb of RAM free.
There are several posts with similar problems on the Pinnacle forum.
Any advice would be most welcome.

I have now put my problem to Pinnacle and their automated reply was to update the software to 8.12.7 which I have done.
I now get errors on diskio.dll and on closing an error on mfc42.dll.
Has anyone had the same problem?

I've been using Studio for a few years now (since version 1 - I'm now on version 9) and whilst I've experienced a few bugs along the way, I've not come across these problems so can only assume there is something with your PC's configuration that's conflicting with Studio.

I've done a quick search on Google and there are a few articles with people having a problem with diskio.dll when using Studio. You might also like to look at this article about mfc42.dll: http://www.techadvice.com/w98/M/mfc42_dll.htm

Hope this is of some help.

Thanks very much for that help.
SFC is designed for Win 98 and I am using ME. I hope it will work on ME.
I will try it anyway.
I will do a search on Google for problems with the other dll's.

Further to my last post, I now do not have a problem with any of those mentioned.
I updated the bios on my ASUS board and my Nvidea graphics card, so now I can get as far as creating a video to tape. I will go no further because it cannot find the DV equipment, which is my camera, connected and switched on to standby. This has worked before the ealier problems arose.
Next I tried making an AVI file first, which was OK. I then tried to make a tape from that, but with the same end result.

Has anyone any ideas what could be causing this?
Thanks

If you have a look on the Pinnacle user support forums you will find quite a few entries about this. I had a brief look & didn't see any definitive answers from Pinnacle. Some users who have suffered with it managed to get rid of it it by , uninstalling the program, ensuring they had latest video/audio card drivers & reinstalling program. Others have reported getting the error after doing a DirectX update.

I have used Pinnacle stuff in the past but to be honest I've always found the answers to problems usually come from other frustrated users on their forums rather than Pinnacle themselves. Never regretted moving to Sonic Foundry's (now Sony's) Vegas software which is very reliable & has excellent user forums supported both by users & software company staff.
