Help Help Canon problem

I've just bought a Canon MVX3i camcorder

i bought this for my homeymoon

The problem: whilst picture quality is good in itself general pans are jittery and jumpy. It is not the image stabilser.

I can partially cure it by setting the shutter speed to 50 or above. But it does this even in bright sunlight.

I have sine tested a Sony which does not do this

This cannot be write for a £1000 camcorder surely

In lower light situations it also is extremely stop framey (I mean simple indoor corridors with strip lights (not some unlit alley)

WHAT CAN I DO - IS IT A FAULT - IS IT A BAD CAMCORDER

HELP PLEASE

Thanks: Gave 39, Got 594
On my Sony cam I've got a feature called 'progressive scan' that makes pans and fast movement jumpy. it is designed for giving a higher resolution on still pictures so I just switch it off for normal video and everything if then fine.
I don't know if that is what is causeing you preoblems, but have a look and see if there are any such features you can switch off.

Mark.

Question

Hi there,
I always keep the shutter speed at 50 on any cams I use unless we need to get a staggered look. If it still judders at this speed, have it looked at.
Good luck
