Steady Shot not working.

I have a 7 year old Sony Hi8 comcorder. The Steady shot has stopped working, and now causes the picture to bounce up and down when the camera is moved. Does anybody know how it works or what the problem might be, as it is not worth having Sony look at it .

Cheers

Martin

Hello,
I don't know your cam but on the newer models you can turn steady shot off/on via the menu. Have a look there just in case. If that's not the problem then, as you have sussed, it has probably packed up.
I'm impressed that you got 7 years out of your cam though! Mine have a life cycle of about 3 years tops (strapped to a motorcycle doesn't help)
