VHS to AVI/DivX

Guys

Is there an easy(ish) way of transfering my old VHS home movies into a digital format I can burn to DVD or put on the XBox???

Not sure where to start really? Would I pipe it to the camcorder for record then pipe it into the pc??

Yes the best way is for your camcorder to do the conversion from analogue to digital for you - but not all camcorders allow this - read your camera instruction manual, you need AV -in (This is not DV-in). With some camcorders you can do this 'on the fly' with the signal simply passing straight through the camera, but with some you have to record to tape first (or as well)

If you can't do it through your camcorder have a read here :-

Or purchase a converter like the Canopus ADVC-100.

Plug you VHS into the ADVC-100 on one side & then plug the ADVC-100 into the PC's firewire .
