Camcorder Problems - Panasonic PV-DV400

Camcorder Problems - Panasonic PV-DV400
I just started having problems with my camcorder today. I try to turn it on, but the viewscreen keeps flashing for a split second, then shuts down. This happens with both the ac adaptor and battery pack. I'm still able to remove the tape, tried putting in a new one, same problem.

Has anyone else ever had this problem, and would I be able to fix it myself?
