Angry Sony DV Camcorder problem after using i-Link

I tried some DV capture SW during the weekend in combination with my Sony DCR-TRV7E DV camcorder using the i-Link (aka Firewire or IEEE1394) connection.
Worked fine except that I later discovered the screen (LCD and viewfinder) stay black in recording mode, as if the lens cap were still on. And yes, I am sure I removed it.
In fact the camera does not record anything but static, so it's not a screen problem but rather the electronics or CCD.

Pushed the "Reset" button but no help, same prob. Any ideas/suggestions - or a case for the repair service?

Do you actually mean recording mode or playback? Because when you capture to the PC you need to playback the tape as you do when you want to view it on the LCD or a TV.

I meant recording mode. I could transfer from DV cam to PC without any prob (Playback/VCR control via SW and firewire), but later I noticed I can't use the DV cam anymore for recording - neither by itself, no cables connected, nor when connecting it to the PC again (icon in the Windows explorer opens a "screen" for capturing stills).

Anyhow, I sent it to the service center and they called me back on the same day, couldn't find any problem.
Went there to check and indeed, it worked again. I assume taking out the battery for a long time did the trick - the only thing I didn't do / think of at home.

Happy again.
