Mic recommendation for loud concert recording using Camcorder

Hi,
I'm going to be recording in a concert(loud) using my Sony HC1e camcorder. I will be away from the stage about 40-50 ft. Is there any recommended mic for this sort of work?
Thank you all.

Well the normal type of mic to use in this situation is a shotgun mic. But looking on the Sony web site (see Here) at the specs of the HC1E it states that this model does not have a mic input. Therefore unless the accessory shoe is active (site doesn't specifiy) then you wont be able to use an external mic. If it is active then you are probably restricted to a few expensive Sony mics and I've seen reviews of a couple of them that state the internal mic is as good as them and so not worth the cost.

Mark.

The HC1 does have a mic input i have used my Rode stereo mic with all my cams its a great mic, the HC1 sound volume can be adjusted as can the mic.
Amazon.co.uk: SONY MIC SHOE ADAPTOR will be needed for non sony hotshoe mics.
i have owned mono mics like the RVM but sold it as the RS sound is in a different class overall.

Videomic is OK, however for a better dynamic range try the Rode NTG1 or 2, pricey around £300 but sound is superb.

You will need an adaptor but easily avalable

Some are better but really the better option is a Sennhierser or Rode with an adaptor to fit over Sonys Proprietary shoe

I dont think there is a hot or cold shoe mount for an external mic on the HC1.

Solution: if you are shooting indors mount the HC1 on a tripod with the mic connected to another tripod, if you get the NTG1 0r 2 you will need a connector lead from the camcorder to the XLR input on the mic.

Im not sure I understand that . As stated in the preceeding post, I own an HC1 ( as did Chris) and know for a fact There is a mount, it is Sonys own proprietary one for which adaptors exist to turn it into a cold shoe if it is a non Sony one
It is to this I attach a Rode Mic and then connect up to its mic-in

This would be the case if it was desirable for the mic to be a little distance away from the camcorder but for onboard mounting there is a mount
