Canon HD cam is more popular than Sony HD cam ?

I am in the market for a HD cam. I've read many reviews here and other forums. It appears that the Canon models are much more popular then Sony given the same price range.
From what I've read the report, the Sony has superior optical stabilization than anybody else. However, the color reproduction is not as good as Canon. This is a trade off of this excellent stabilization.
Not as good is a relative word. From the sample posted on vimeo.com, it still looks very decent.

In a mobile world, don't you think optical stabilization is a lot more important than color? Why are people buying more Canon then Sony's. Just look at the comments and feedbacks on Amazon and newegg.com. Also on vimeo.com, more people post their own footage shot on Canon than Sony.

I'd like to hear from the owners of Sony and Canon HD cam.

Feature for feature, Sony tends to be a touch more expensive than Canon in the consumer camcorder world. Might have something to do with it.

Re: Canon HD cam is more popular than Sony HD cam ?

Thanks, Andrew. I thought about that too.
A decent Sony model cost $750 at Costco while a very good Canon (like HF200) can be found on line for a mere $475.

The Sony model has three unique features that the competition do not have: excellent stabilizer, slow smooth motion capture, lower light capabilit (indoor).

The first two I think there are some software to create in the post processing part-I am not sure how effective it works. However, I think I am stuck with the low light.

I also read that some reviewers exaggerate the low light on the Canon as they are mostly perfectionist. The actual result is very acceptable if you set the shutter knob correctly.
