Panasonic NV-GS60 tranfre to PC for DVD

First post here!
I have read a few posts about transfre of movies from the Panasonic NV-GS60 to PC - have a few questions which I hope someone can help.
I have a Dell Inspirion 1501 - Have seen the 2 Port IEEE-1394 FireWire PCI Card with Digital Video Editing Kit. Will this be compatible with the Dell Inspirion 1501 and how does it fit the laptop and will it be compatible?
Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum

Basically a PCI card is for a desktop PC and will not fit into a laptop.
A laptop will need to have either a PCMCIA/Cardbus or Expresscard slot to be able to add a firewire port - assuming that it doesn't have firewire already. There is no other way of adding firewire as you can't use USB to firewire adapters as they simply don't work with a camcorder.

Thanks for your help. I am struggling to find compatable expresscards for an Dell Inspirion 1501 (Dell don't seem to be able to help). Can I use any? Where is a good site to buy? Thanks.

Is this any good: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=221530

Thanks for your help.

Just about any card that is refered to as Expresscard will fit into your laptop, so the card you have linked to will do the job.
There are a few physically larger Expresscard54 that I don't think will fit your laptop, but the one you linked to is Expresscard34 and so will fit in any Expresscard (34 or 54) slot.
