Editing H.264 video from Sanyo Xacti Vpc-cg10

Hi guys

really need some help.

I'm getting a Sanyo xacti vpc-cg10 HD camcorder and have been told it shoots H.264 video which you can't edit in Windows Movie Maker. I've found this product that's got some good reviews for the price but I'm struggling to find out if it can edit the format my movies will be recorded in

VideoStudio X2 - Video Editing

I would be buying the Ultimate version, anyone able to shed any light on the subject and confirm if it can or not?

Cheers

It can (should).. although you might want t download a fully working trial version to test before buying
But what spec of machine is your PC. That is quite crucial too
WMM does not edit h.264 from any camcorder, not just the Sanyo, AS it hapens h.264 is a standard but the codec employed bythe indiviual brand is not similar
Did you see
Editing AVCHD ??

Although you did not ask, I would be wary of getting the Sanyo on the promise of "HD"

It shoots 720p at 30fps, Its Image stabilisation is not famous for how good it is and Auto focus speed and accuracy , low light ability and colour rendition, underwhelming
Also no HDMI or component out makes me wonder how you view its " hi def on an HDTV

In its favour are low price, promise of a good stills ability and the pocketable pistol grip shape which ultimately is not what it promises if in encouraging hand holding , will be testing the image stabilization
If you must get it, try and buy from somewhere you can return it if it doesnt float your boat
Good luck

I've cuurently got a Dell Inspiron 1544 laptop runnug Visa with 3 gb of memory and a 250gb hard drive, would this be powerful enough?

I didn't see the topic but will have a look.

That's good to know opinions, really only saw it as a cheaper camera that would give HD so thought it would be better than most around it's price range. I will have a further look to see what else I can get for round about the same money

As I stated , the more the better . More grunt is better editing

It may be more trouble than its worth IMHO
I would save up for just a little more TBH

You know your pocket best and how much you need a camcorder but the Canon , Panasonic range ( and Sony if you can get one) are unlikely to make disappointing models
Panasonic SD200 is said to be ace but it costs almost double the cost of the Sanyo. Canon HF200 is another contender
