VideoStudio X2 Pro Ultimate

Hello, I am new to video and would welcome any advice please. I have bought my wife a canon camcorder which has HD and AVCHD although I know that HD is high definition but that's about as far as my knowledge goes now. I want to purchase software so I can download it onto my laptop which is run by Vista and edit as necessary. I have read about the above in my title and it looks as if it will do the job, has anybody got any advice on this or any other suggestions.

Many thank's in advance, Bristles.

Re: VideoStudio X2 Pro Ultimate

Software is often a matter of
1) Ability
2) Extra Features
3) Ease of use
4) Hardware spec
How you get on with it.. Some folk find them intuitive and others dont
First of all, AVCHD editing requires a decent ( and recent)PC

AsK your self ,, by editing what are you hoping to result in
A good edit is a creative process which could start right from time of shooting the video
Some video does not need editing and some can not be improved by editing but most others are in between

As such any no of current editng software are worth considering.
Sony Vegas Movie studio VER 9
Pinnacle Studio
Roxio 2009/1010
Magix Movie EDIT PRO 15
and Adobe Premiere Elements 8 are but a few
Some folk swear by Cyberlink Power Director 8
Most have trial downloads versions

Re: VideoStudio X2 Pro Ultimate

No worries. You mention laptop. Many are not powerful enough to edit AVCHD painlessly but you can download trial versions and see
Your chosen software is popular , as it is said to have easy usability in its favour.
Ive used previous versions and liked it but was a little unhappy that it was too wizard driven , could have been me though..
All of them have a bit of a learning curve
