Question Which JVC Camcorder takes my old tapes?

Hi - I have three JVC camcorder tapes EC-SXB(W) from years ago. I am wanting to see whats on them and transfer to disc but the camcorder we used was borrowed from a friend and we are unsure of the model. I was hoping to buy a cheap second hand camcorder just for this purpose. Could anyone tell me what model(s) the discs would play in.

Many thanks for any help.

Re: Which JVC Camcorder takes my old tapes?

Those are VHS-C tapes - a smaller version of the VHS home format. You have a few choices:

1. Pick up a VHS-C camcorder from eBay, pop the tapes in that and watch them on your TV or copy them to DVD. The JVC model numbers for VHS-C camcorders generally begin with GR- or GR-AX, though there are others.

2. If you have VHS video recorder, get a VHS-C adapter. This converts the VHS-C tape into a full size VHS tape which you can play in your VHS VCR if you have one. The JVC part number for this is C-P6U or C-P7U.

3. Give the tapes to a company that can copy them to DVD for you.

Thumbs up Re: Which JVC Camcorder takes my old tapes?

Hi Gary

Thanks so much for your reply and suggestions. I'll price up the camcorders. Its good to know I have the option of the adapter in case the camcorders cost too much. I thought of sending them to a company to put on DVD for me but I think the dates of these tapes intermingle with other tapes from another camcorder and I wanted to get the dvds in order.

Thanks again.
