Ordering from Camerabox

Has anyone ordered from them before?

Someone has told me that they sell grey imports and not from the UK. Is this true?

Thinking of ordering the Sony HDR-XR520 because their price is so much cheaper....hoping for some feedback before I take the plunge!

Thanks

Re: Ordering from Camerabox

My bad, I should have searched!

There definitely seems to be mixed reviews. The main problem seems to be if anything needs to be returned.

Hmmmm.......

Beware of Credit Card Fraud

I bought a flash from them just over a week ago.

Yesterday my credit card company called to say someone had changed my address and phone number. Also to an address in Manchester.

It seems to me that this may be more than coincidence looking at other posts on here - just a friendly warning to others.

I had no problems with the actual service from camerabox.

Just bought a point and shoot camera from them.... a couple of amateurish errors on their website weren't great but large volumes of strong reviews on Froogle so ordered.

Slightly irritated as ordered for before midday delivery, at 6:30pm received an email saying they had a problem with the order and to call (email said they were open until 6pm) but were closed.

Call the next day and they said problem was the system had lost half of my post code. Pointed out that it was on the payment details and there are plenty of places to get post codes from. They admitted that it shouldn't have stopped the order then long pause.... having to ask but without argument they agreed to do before 9am deliver free of charge (and refunded the extra paid for before midday delivery).

Camera turned up no problem, was sealed and came with a UK 3 pin plug so assume UK sourced

Post Camerabox

I bought an Olympus camera last November. It arrived on time and has been used extensively all year. The model appears identical to a UK one but the warranty was "refer to Camerabox for repair". This suggest it is a grey import. I did try to get a full UK warranty from Camerabox but got no reply to my Emails. I decided to stick with it as Olympus are very reliable and the price was extremely good. I have had no problems so far. I even bought batteries from Hongkong and these have been great. You pay your money and take your chance.

Regards

Scorpian

Im concerned so far as I ordered an expensive camera lens on Monday night as the live stock had 2 available. As mentioned earlier I had a call on Tuesday as the card was blocked so called bank and cleared it. I paid extra for next day before 10am delivery and it didnt turn up, called them and they said it was out of stock. Was then told to call today as a new delivery was scheduled and was told they would contact me before 4pm to let me know if they arrived. no phone call and still none the clearer. They have £1450 of mine and I cant even get a civil reply to a simple question, when can I expect my camera lens? I have to wait till Monday now and try again. Dont know whether to keep trying or ask for a refund, which I think will be easier said than done. They were quick enough to take the money from my account though

Any advice?????
