Video editing help.

Hello, I hope this is in the correct place, sorry if it's not, this is my first post

I've got an idea for an edit that me and my friend shall be making, it is a MTB edit if you are wondering.

The idea was to have the opening video of him riding in the horizon of a sloped field, and then his name 'Magnus' coming out from behind him.

I know this is possible, i've seen it before, could you explain how and what program? I have Magix movie edit pro 15...

Something like the attached file.

Re: Video editing help.

What you have shown seems to be a compositing/ animation type of effect rather than straight forward editing

Im not sure it is possible in Magix

It is possible but there may be more than one way to do it and unless you know which program was used it might be hard to say "how"

Re: Video editing help.

Okay, thankyou, I somewhat understand.

If there's anyway, be it on after effects, vegas etc, I'm sure I could ask someone who has it to do it for me, so if you know any way, could you explain? :D

Re: Video editing help.

Im afraid Im not that skilled although I could work on how to do it if I really had to..

Ultimately it really is stop motion text animation.. and I imagine it can be done manually by drawing this on several still frames ( digitally or analogue) then turning them into a video in software

Anyone with some skill with After Effects could. if you show an motion example of what you want to do

There are 2 other programmes Ive used in the Past.. Cool3d Studio ( by Ulead) and Serifs Impact Plus5

Truly though I guess anyone with the know how could also do that by using the templates for titles , or manually. using key frames.
Adobe Premiere Elements 8 has a facility for making text follow a curve
You Tube is a rich resource for "how to" if you could do search on there
Its an area I only try for specific tasks then promptly

It is also possible to animate text in Photoshop (gif) which is often used in websites but could be exported for use in a video editing Program. Older versions used Image Ready to do this but newer ones have the abiltity built in
There are so many ways to achieve it any will do fine.
Just A few ideas
HTH

How different is it to what you want?
That was simple to do but animations are time consuming if they are to look good
This was quite low tech...

Re: Video editing help.

It's pretty similar, basically having him ride done on the 'horizon' of a sloped field, pretty fast and then his name appear as he rides through it...

I've worked in flash mx before, but frame by frame it won't be smooth at all...

Re: Video editing help.

If you use the 'add text' in Sony Vegas, it gives you a placement option. If you just add one letter at a time you can move them about. Or if you're familiar with key frames you can animate them that way. Hope this helps, difficult to explain without writing loads and loads. There are loads of 'how-to's' on youtube if you search
