HD footage to dvd- How much can i fit on a dvd?

I've got 11 hours of honeymoon footage on my hdd (taken with the SD9). I want to stick in on a dvd(s) for the time being (unedited) as the wife can't 'work' the ps3.

How much would a dvd take?

I was thinking about an hour of compressed footage per dvd? I want it to look OK for quality, but not end up with 20 odd dvds just of unedited footage.

If you want HD quality avchd dvd you can get just over an hour on a dual layer blank dvd,35 min single layer.
sd dvd quality will hold around 67m on a single layer or over 2 hrs on a dual layer

So i could easily get 1 hour on a standard dvd, and the quality would be OK (ie not full AVCHD)?

SD quality will be fine. I can't edit the HD video on my current pc, so it will have to stay unedited for a while!
