sony DCR 37E or JVC GZ MC500

Hi My son is going to buy his 1st camcorder. He is 21 and its just for holidays, leisure etc. Two of his friends parents are selling theirs. Please which is best SONY HANDYCAM DCR 37E 60GB HDD CAMCORDER or a JVC Everio GZ-MC500 with loads of extras
