| Member | Connecting Panasonic NV-DS55 to a PC
I've just inherited an NV-DS55, which works fine but I'm new to camcorders so please bear with me... ![]() I've added a Firewire card to my desktop PC, which Windows XP SP2 tells me is working fine. I connect the NV-DS55 via its DV port to the PC by a Firewire cable, then turn on the camera, switch it to VCR mode and start playing what's on the tape. Start up Windows Movie Maker - and nothing: "a video capture device was not detected." The PC is not seeing the camera. Any suggestions as to how I can test the various links in chain, e.g. that the card is actually working, the cable etc? I've no other Firewire devices to test against. Or is there a setting on the camera to enable the DV port? The manual is no help at all. {I have connected the camera to my TV using the AV Out port and played the tape back, and it shows on the TV so I know that port works.} |
