Locating video files for HF100

Hi Guys

When I view video clips on my HF100's LCD there is no problem, but when I connect to my laptop and search through windows explorer I cant find them.

I have installed imagemixer 3 (came with the camcorder) and can view the videos by going through the following path

F:>PRIVATE>AVCHD>BDMV>CLIPIMF>STREAM

However this is extremely tedious, there must be a better way? I am using the supplied usb cable and I have checked the the FAQ on this forum. Someone said usb is for photos and firewire is for video. Is this correct as I dont appear to have a firewire connection on my laptop.

Should I be using another piece of software, please help

No there is not . What some of the bundled software do is make it a bit easier by going directly to the stream folder and using thumbnails made by the camcorder for indexing
Short of this , the method you are using is the main way and you don't even need image mixer for that

It is only true for tape camcorders . The HF100 uses USB only

Probably not

Im not sure why you don't put the SD card into a card reader , connect up to the Laptop, copy them to your HDD and view the video files directly instead of going via the camcorder.
You can certainly copy off the camcorder , but the problem you state would be more relevant i t wer a HDD camcorder. Even with them you can copy to your Laptop HDD
If you worry about your Laptop HDD space " shrinking" get an Ext HDD for storage
I suspect what you rellay want is the easy thumbnail view to identify clips.

Windows 7 has native support for AVCHD and you may be able to see them as thumbnails but not with other versions of Windows , if the imge mixer as installed does not generate thumbnails

Re: Locating video files for HF100

Hi thanks for your reply

When I use windows explorer or the usb card reader, it displays the mts files, but does not play them. when I select 'open using' image mixer 3 SE player, it opens the player but doesnt play the clips.

When I open the files directly through the player it works and when i copy the files one by one through the player to my HDD, the files play with a single click. When I copy the files over using my card reader, the files do not play.

Re: Locating video files for HF100

Download MHC-HC or Splash ( or both if you want) and associate the mts files with either . That way the files on your HDD or card will open either program and play. You then should not need imagemixer unless you badly want to use it..
You can open a folder and that would ensure the files play sequentially rather than needing to open each one at a time. With splash you can configure the files to play one following the other.
Associate by ticking the ..."always open with this program"
