I just brought a minidv camcorder (canon md205)
im pleased with it. sound quality is awesome and picture is ok.
when i was looking for the tapes i saw there was HD MiniDV tapes.
can you use the HD ones in normal mini dv camcorders?
or is it for HD camcorders only?

also is there any difference?

Dont bother with them. There are high grade tapes ( with big price tags) designed for hi definition tape camcorders supposed to reduce drop out , but even normal tapes are generally good enough for hi def (HDV ) camcorders
That said I would suggest that you get normal Sony Premium Tapes ( often bargains at Amazon) and stick with only one tape brand/type
