SONY DCR-TRV310E playback issue

AAARGGGH

Hi guys

After finally being able to pick up the above camera on ebay to transfer my hi 8 and digital 8 tapes to my pc i have got another problem.

When i playback the tapes on the camcorder the hi 8 tapes work fine while the digital 8 tapes the playback is blocky and broken up along with the sound. It is just like when you have a bad reception and part of the video freezes while part is still playing.I have no idea what could be causing this.Im not sure if the head needs cleaning as like i said the hi 8 tapes work just fine.

Help!

Re: SONY DCR-TRV310E playback issue

The heads might need cleanin or the tapes themselves have become " dirty"
Digital recordings break up like this when there is dirt
Analogue tend to get " snowy" but wont break up
Either way there is dirt, on the tape or head
