hi
thats a great price . however I was wondering if it would ruin my tapes (masters).............as I've read many times each cam manufacturer uses different compounds etc etc in their tapes and recording/playback heads

anyway thankyou for your efforts and speedy reply

Unless the OP recorded LP there should be no compatibility issues . they are fairly standard

Its ok and probably even more cost effective not to specifically seek out a Sony model
Its easy to mix these thing up . The advise was to stick to one type of tape as there were some manufacturers using "wet" ( mainly Sony) and other's "dry" lubricants for the tapes
This may or may no tbe a thing of the past but it remains conventional wisdom not to mix and match tape brands

The issue is not with different camcorders it is with tapes.
For the purposes of playback (unless you recorded LP) there is absolutely no reason why a samsung camcorder will not play tapes recorded on a Sony and for recording you can use any tape wih any camcorde but ry and use the same brand as much as you can

Re: can anyone help with finding a cheap sony minidv cam

You need to make an account first.

Normally you add the product to your basket, then go to the checkout , you should see a box to enter the discount code.

EDIT : I ordered one myself , the first had a lot of motor/tape transport noise so i got a replacement the same model, and this one is great a lot quieter.
