Where to find Camcorder Reviews?

I'm planning on buying a new camcorder soon, so I decided to buy a Camcorder Review magazine that would rate pretty much every camcorder available... but to my surprise there doesn't seem to be any?!

I seemed to think that there were mags called "What Camcorder" or "Which Camcorder" but apparently not.

So, next I turn to the web and Google "Camcorder Reviews" and similar. However looking at the results I was very disappointed to find that each site only reviews a handfuly of cameras and most were months if not years out of date.

Is there any resource that reviews, scores and compares all the camcorders available?

To be honest, I don't want to read all the reviews... I initially want to use the scores to narrow down a shortlist (i.e. the top 5 or so scoring cameras with the spec I'm after), and then I'll read the full reviews of the shortlisted cameras.

Incase anyone is interested, what I'm after is a camcorder for in car recording at track days. My previous Sony MiniDV camcorder quit due to the vibration and shocks, so now I'm looking for a high bitrate 60p 1080p HD camcorder that takes SD cards that works well with fast moving images. Any recommendations?

Thanks
Ben

Re: Where to find Camcorder Reviews?

Your specific application makes your choice easy -you don't have one!

Seriously though, the current range of SD card HD comsumer camcorders all now use CMOS sensors, as opposed to the previous generation of camcorders, many of which still employed CCD sensors.

CMOS sensors, and high vibration fast moving footage, do not mix well, so you really need to look for a camcorder with CCD sensors.

If you have a moment, read through this thread:

Canon HF200, blo*dy awful quality!!

it contains some useful information about the problem.
