Adobe Premier Elements 8 issue

Downloaded the trial version and installed it on my 64 bit Windows 7 box.
Imported a MTS file (from Canon HF100) and although in the preview window it played the sound there was no pictures
The file plays fine in Media Player (the 64 bit one that comes with Windows 7).
Has anyone seen this happen and is there a really obvious fix (ideally idiot proof ) ?
