can I install premier 7 over 6.5 ?

I have just managed to get Adobe Premier v7.
I already have v6.5 installed on my system and wondered if I could install v7 over the top or is it best to remove it and reinstall v7 as a fresh installation?
Not sure there will be much difference anyway, maybe a few extra transitions and the like. Anyone know for certain?

Cheers
Steve

Remove 6.5, reboot and then install 7.

I would suggest if upgrading to Premiere Pro you do it as a clean install. Even going as far as formatting the HDD and reinstalling everything from scratch.
Be warned that Pro will only run on Windows XP and really needs a 2Ghz plus processor to run well. It also needs to be a Pentium 4 and NOT an AMD Athlon processor or it just won't run.

For a full review of Premiere Pro get hold of a copy of Decembers Computer Video mag (currently on January issue with February due any time now ) or there is a cut down version on their web site here: http://www.computervideo.net/dec03-1.htm

Premiere Pro requires a cpu with SSE instructions. Thus it will run on any Athlon XP, Athlon MP, Athlon 64 FX, Athlon 64 and Opteron.

The Athlons it wont work on are the original Athlon (600mhz to 1ghz) and the Athlon Thunderbird (1ghz to 1.4ghz).

To clarify:

Quote:
Premiere Pro can't be run on AMD Athlon Thunderbird processors - they don't support the SSE instruction sets that Premiere Pro needs.
The above quote is taken from the review of Premiere Pro in Computer Video mag.
