Red face Please help How to copy camcorder tapes on to VHS

Hi All I would appreciate it if someone could help me.I have just bought a goodmans wide screen TV. I have a LG video player which only has a scart socket and no other inputs. The tv has two scart sockets in which my dvd player and vhs is pluged in.On the front I have yellow red and white input sockets. My camcorder is a samsung Hi 8. When I connect it to the tv I can only use the white and yellow leads which came with the camera.I get a perfect picture on the tv which goes on the channel saying FAV 2 the problem is that I have tried every way possible and I cannot record the picture on to VHS any suggestions please. Thanks Dave.

It's possible that your VCR does not have AV inputs. Read the manual and see if the scart is also an input. If it is then you will need to unplug the TV scart and plug the camcorder in via a phono to scart converter from the likes of Maplin if not supplied with the camcorder. You then need to tell the VCR to accept an input via the scart. This is normally done with a button on the VCR remote marked as 'Input' or 'AV'. Then its just a matter of pressing record on the VCR and play on the cam.

Normally a VCR will have front inputs, as you say yours does not I think you may not have any AV inputs available.

Mark.

Have you tried unplugging the scart from your VCR/DVD player and plugging your camcorder into that, you may need to buy a scart-phono adapter if one did not come with your camcorder, make sure you get an adapter which is signal IN to the scart or is switchable IN-OUT. You will then need to switch your VCR to the scart often from the remote or sometimes a button on the unit faceplate, the VCR display may need to display 'L1' or 'AV' or something similar. You will then need to monitor the picture on your TV over the RF (Aerial) connection, you may need to tune an additional channel on your TV if you have not already done so. I appreciate the picture on the TV may not be the best available but it is only temporary while you monitor the transfer from camcorder to VCR.
