Question Can anyone help me??

Hi im new to the site and am in need of a little bit of help. I have a DCR-TRV270E PAL DIGITAL VIDEO CAMERA. Ive also got myself an Imac computer. Ive been making dvds for family and friends with my camera on imovie and they are great. My boyfriends sister has seen what i have been doing and have given me all her home movie hi8 tapes to do the same for her. Ive put them in my camera and they will not play, i have been told its because they have been recorded on a different format. She lent me her video camera but that camera does not have an firewire connection. I would really like to do these for her. Ive been told that i need to look for a video camera that plays all formats and one that has a firewire cable. I have tryed lookin but im not 100% sure what i am looking for. Does anyone know what camera i may need or any other way of doing these tapes????
Kind regards
Gemmini

Re: Can anyone help me??

Hi I don't know that particular camera, but a quick google search found this which suggests that your model doesn't have the ability to play Hi-8 or Video 8.

You need to find a camcorder that does, like the one mentioned in that article - I have a TRV325E which does play Hi-8.

The alternative is to find a composite / s-video to firewire adaptor, or some other video capture device and capture the tapes from her camera.

regards

Brian

As said above.

Look for something like this, it's not firewire, but I presume you have a USB connection, they're not expensive and you may find other uses for it.
