Panasonic hdc-hs300

I recently purchased the Panasonic high definition camcorder HDC-HS300.While generally i am happy with my purchase there is a couple of niggling issues.I have been using it in auto mode with intelligent auto active and optical image stabilizer active and recorded to a SD card, not to the hard drive. But playing recordings back the motion is very jerky, the footage i shot required me to be on the move (because of walking round a museum).I was not using aggressive movements when using camcorder so i would have expected the image stabilization to be effective to some extent. To rule out it may be problem with sources i am playing back footage with i tried the following.Play back off SD card in panasonic BD-30 bluray player (with latest firmware updates),card in playstation 3,and card back in camcorder itself and wired HDMI into my full HD panasonic plasma panel (42 PZ-70).And got same results on all sources. So this makes me think it could be camcorder itself.I also made a couple exterior shots away from museum still jerky.Has anybody else experienced similar with this camcorder,do you think it could be because i am running auto modes, would it be better to use manual control?.There is such a lot of options manual,if manual is best could somebody give a hint at some optimum settings?. (please excuse the length of this post, but felt i had to give as much info as possible ).

Re: Panasonic hdc-hs300

Perhaps you were expecting too much of the OIS.
It isn't really meant to compensate for walking - just for slightly unsteady hands. (though the newest canons and panasonics (HS350) have a new OIS mode that is supposed to improve stability when the camera is moving)

Also, you can get jerky movement if you are panning too fast, or have items moving across the screen too fast, as the AVCHD processing isn't too good at compressing this type of movement.

Ok thanks a lot for your reply.Like i say there are more positives with the camcorder than negatives,it's getting good press and rightfully so.Like you say i am being too much of a perfectionist.I am not aware of that new model you quoted.I have looked on there UK site can't see it,is it on a european site or something?.THANKS

Sorry, I should have said TM350

It is unclear though if this will be released in the UK - but it has apparently surfaced in Germany now
Slashcam News : Now also in Germany - Panasonic HDC-TM350

Re: Panasonic hdc-hs300

What sd card are you using? could it be the write speed is not quick enough. Have had similar issues with a compact camera videoing on a low speed card.
