Relative newb... want to buy a new camcorder to record baby / kids growing up etc... just general family stuff. What's my best best? Do I go for a HD one? Do I go for memory cards or dvds? I am on a mac so need to bear that in mind too...

Any help or advice appreciated...

Certainly go HD or in the years to come you will certainly regret it,cards or dvd well there are no dvd HD cams only a hitachi blu ray one if they are still going, for your price range it seems it must be card based, there are cheap ones from kodak -sanyo etc and dearer more up market models from canon sony and panasonic that are still within your price range.
