Sony-DCRSR37ES sub £230 camcorder

can anyone tell me what i should buy that would be better than this?

Sony DCRSR37ES Handycam Camcorder With Built-In 60GB: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

I would like HD but suspect i will loose a lot of other features at this price if i go for an HD one?

was also looking at the JVC GZ-MS120 but it doesnt have a built in hdd so id have to buy cards anyway.

This camcorder is for my dads birthday and ive done a bit of research but to be honest i dont really have a clue about them.

any advice welcome.

Mark

Re: Sony-DCRSR37ES sub £230 camcorder

A call into Jessops this afternoon has made the matter no clearer. I got the usual rubbish about amazon stuff having the wrong connections and plugs on them which is why they are cheap and the girl couldnt tell me what the difference was in any of the camcorders.
Anyone offer any tips or advice on this?

Re: Sony-DCRSR37ES sub £230 camcorder

Hi,
Iv just ordered this camcorder, should receive it in the next couple of days. I was also considering the Panasonic SDR-H80 and Sony DCRSX30E. What made me go for the sony DCRSR37ES was that it had a big hard drive but more importantly the picture quality seemed very good. There are test videos on youtube taken with this camcorder in different lighting conditions and all seemed really good compared to my current sony DV camcorder. this is what made my decisioin on this camcorder.
Just type in sony DCR SR37E in the youtube search box.
Hope that helped!!
