HDC-SD200/TH300 or something else?

I will be purchasing a camcorder around the start of November, Going to NY on 4th December so want a few weeks playing! Now the real question.

Originally I had the SD200 lined up and at the time of writing this It can be had for £574 delivered and the TH300 for around £750. Taking into acount the cost of a good 32gb class 6 card bringing the price a bit closer takes me closer to choosing the TH300, That with the extra feature the 300 has is really swaying me.
Is there anything else out there, Canon maybe that is a match.

Cheers
James

Cameraworld.co.uk still has the hdc-200 for £529 - got mine from there. I had a Canon hg20 and sold it for the hdc-sd200. The canon 'possibly' had the better picture, but the size, weight and bulk of it was the decider, as the panasonic was smaller and lighter and easier to use. I also like the software that comes with the camera, the canon one is not that great in comparison.

I took a long hard look at the SD200 but in the end went for the SD10. The progressive shooting mode isn't supported on the SD10 but I have facilities at work to "film mode" my final vids so its not so much of a loss. Although the SD200 will shoot better pics.
Checkout this months stuff magazine. They have a HD Camcorder head to head test pitting the SD200 against 4 other camcorders in its class. The SD200 comes out top in the article but its worth seeing the alternative models.

Re: HDC-SD200/TH300 or something else?

The TM300 would be my pick of the two, if budget wasn't a concern.

Canon's nearest equivalents would be something like the HF200 and the HFS100, but the TM300 beats them with its range of manual features. Not sure how the TM300 and HFS100 would go head-to-head in terms of image quality. The HFS100 has the bigger sensor of the two - and is a bit more expensive as a result.

There's also the HDR-XR500 or HDR-XR520 from Sony.

Re: HDC-SD200/TH300 or something else?

Having had a look at reviews for the Canon and Sony I still think its gonna be the TM300.
Does anyone have one that could give a real life report?
