need a new camcorder

right then, I am looking for a new small sd camcorder, I have had one from QVC think it was a sanyo xacti or something and it was soooo disapointing, compared to my old fashioned MiniDV corder, I held both camcorders together and filmed the same footage, the sanyo was soo slow to focus and the quality was simply not that good.

So I am looking for something small and decent, ideally no more than £300.

We have a perfectly good mini dv camcorder but its big and bulky and so it never gets carried around. I dont really care about HD that much as my pc isnt really good enough to edit the footage and we use an xbox running XBMC for streaming and that cant play 720P.

I wont say no to HD if the price is right though.

so, any thoughts?

Sadly you may be in no mans land as you can get a hd cam from one of the main manufactuars for a litle more than you want to pay but being avchd you could not edit with your pc, you have to decide if you want a sd hdd or card cam or do you plan to stay with tape the new mini dv cams will be smal compared to yours, the camcoderinfo link with many camcorder specs may help you.

Re: need a new camcorder

OK, I have decided that I dont want minidv anymore, the one I do like about the sd cards is the not worrying about where the end of the last footage is, not worrying about if I am writing over some other footage becase we started to plat it back and didnt finish it etc...

Thinking about it even more, I never edit my footage anyone, most I will do is play it back and then I can always just drag the files back onto the sd card and plug the camcorder into the TV??

SO, defo want an SD card based camcorder for under £300 that is good.

Any thoughts?
