Unhappy USB Capturing

1)
I have Sony DCR PC-108E Handycam (miniDV).
How I will capture full quality video through USB 2.0?

2)
Earlier I was using Firewire, but the firewire port of my camera seems defective, it is not being detected by my PC. When I connect it to the PC one DVin icom appears momentarily on LCD screen of the camera, PC does not detect it.

What is the solution?

Re: USB Capturing

You must use FireWire to transfer full-quality video from a mini-DV camcorder. Unfortunately, there is no USB solution.

Are you sure the camera FireWire (i-link) port is defective? Check the user's guide if you haven't done so already, to make sure you've got the camcorder on the correct setting for video transfer to PC.

Re: USB Capturing

Try a new firewire cable - the cables often fail but are cheap to replace.
Also try connecting the cam to another PC via firewire to make sure it is not the firewire port of the PC at fault.

Mark.
