canon HF200 problem

i have recently got an hf200 and bought a 32gb transcend class 6 card and 'think' i have a problem....
when i record a clip it all works no problem and i can play it back on the camcorder no problem until i switch it off!! when i switch it back on again and go to playbeck the clip it has dissapeared?? but the clip is still on the card if you remove the card and view the files on a pc.
so is this how its supposed to work or do i have a setting wrong somewhere
thanks

edit-tried it with a sandisk 8gb card and it works fine, recorded clips are still visible on the card when you re-power the camcorder....

Re: canon HF200 problem

No, it's not how it's supposed to work.

Does the HF200 handbook say the camcorder supports 32GB cards?

There have been several reports in this forum of problems with the Canon-Transcend combination (and one or two problems from Panasonic camcorder and Transcend card owners).

However, it's unclear whether the problem is with the Transcend cards themselves, or whether some camcorders simply don't play nice with them. It's hard to draw any definite conclusions one way or the other from the small number of complaints.

My advice would be to return the card and request a refund - or perhaps a replacement, if you want to see whether or not another card works problem-free. The last thing you need is corrupted data and unretrievable video.
