HP Desktop PC for editing Camcorder & VHS Video recording

Hi all,

I have an HP S3435 desktop PC (HP Pavilion Slimline s3435.uk PC (Data sheet/c01421717.pdf))

It's pretty decent spec and is able to handle editing etc from my JVC HD camcorder.

The question I have though is that within the PC there is a NVIDIA GeForce 8400 HD video card which has S-Video In.

When I hook up my Sky+ box and / or my VHS video to archive programmes / tapes I can only get it to record in 4:3 mode, not 16:9. The 4:3 will be OK for the VHS tapes, but is not ideal for Sky archiving.

I am using Cyberlink DVD Suite Deluxe to record and edit my videos.

Is there anything I can do to get 16:9 out of the Sky box into the PC?

Any other suggestions / software recommendations to make my life easier for doing a lot of transferring tapes etc to digital format?

Edit - acutally I am talking rubbish.

The TV card is a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1200

Not sure if this helps, but I use DVD Patcher (not linked but try a google) which simply switches the 16x9/4x3 flag in the MPEG2 video file.
