Pinnacle Studio 12, audio transition problem

I have had Pinnacle Studio 12 for a while now. It has always worked fine. But since re-loading the computer, I am gettind a small click at the start and end of each transition only after I make a movie. It is not there when played while still on the timeline, but is there when I make a finished movie. It happens no matter what the format.
All video used is Mpeg-2 DVD quality & that is also the required output format too.
There is also a similar click when ever title come up on the screen, again only on the completed Mpeg movie. Also happens when made in other formats too.
Can anyone here suggest a reason and/or solution.
My computer is more than equpped to cope with Studio 12.
I am basically making hour long montages.

Re: Pinnacle Studio 12, audio transition problem

I just got my card this week.
I'm using it to suck data into Premier Pro, so the software is something I need to look at more.

It the click a sound thing ...or is there a visual stutter at the same moment?

It's just a sound thing, and only happening half the time, but it never happened until recently, when re-installed on the PC

Re: Pinnacle Studio 12, audio transition problem

Well, it seems to me that there are two possibilities.

Your Pinnical may have developed problems and is in need of repair or replacement, or your computer did not load up the same sound driver this second time around.

What happend to me (last time I reloaded my computer) was that I found that the software (for sound card part of the main board) was a slightly different version than what was installed on the motherboard (when it was new).

So I had to search the web for the latest patch, using the chip number from the sound CPU chip, then un install the editing software (FULLY) then apply the patch , then Reload the editing software.
It was a nasty bit of work.

It took two weeks to figure it out.

Re: Pinnacle Studio 12, audio transition problem

Thanks for responding, Mr Taylor, I have gotten (is that a word?) around the problem my replacing the soundtrack on the master files with one having MPEG-2 sound, the originals were AC3 sound. The problem was most acute when using the "dissolve transition" (second one from left on my monitor) which overlaps both picture and sound. Also the sound was slightly "off centre", stereo wise (a bit like a poor casette tape). As it should have been mono, I made it mono with goldwave and this along with the conversion to MPEG-2 audio has worked. I now have nice smooth transitions so far.
