Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8.0d compare to 9.0b

I currently have the Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8.0d version and would like to know whether it is worthwhile upgrading to the latest 9.0b version. I believe that the problem with 8.0d was that it would only edit to something less than full HD (but close) and that after using DVD Architect it would only burn at standard definition. What are the fundamental benefits.I also had difficulty downloading my AVCHD files direct to the 8.0d and had to use some intermediary software, to capture it, initially, which was a real drag! I have a Sony TDG-1E.
