I'd go for the Panasonic any day. Although the Canon is a fine camcorder, it only has a single sensor, and doesn't have the focus ring, viewfinder, or the same extent of manual exposure control. Panasonic's image stabilization is second to none.
However, assuming you're in the UK, I wouldn't be getting one from the other side of the world. Amaz*n UK sells it for about £810.
Incidentally, Panasonic does make (or at least, re-brands) 6GB and 12GB SDHC cards.
