I've been using Vegas Movie Stidio Platinum v6 off and on for quite a while now but sadly the PC died , mobo and PSU, so I've invested in a shiny new PC VISTA X64 (quad core 4Gb memory and GT 120 graphics card) , so vegas needs upgrading, but I am unsure of which version .

Looking on the sonycreativesoftware site Sony Creative Software - Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Edition - Vegas Family Comparison, and comparing Platinum and PLatinum Pro the only difference seems to be PRo inclides Soundforge 9, SOund Effects and 3d Blue Transistions (whatever that is).

Are there any onther more subtle differences or is the difference only in the inclusion of the products mentioned?
ALso what are 3D Blue transitions

For DV maybe the differences are not that much to you but if you can afford the pro version, it has unlimited Audio video tracks and many more input and output formats
I also have MS ver 6 and I have to say it has benn superseded by the more recent versions in many ways
Mpeg editing is far more accomplished, and faster
Also although you say you only edit DV, you may find yourself gtting source material from elswhere for includsion into a project:
The comparison table does not tell you how muchless cstomisation of output formats the MS version has but TBH if Ver 6 has been fine Ver 9 of MS will ony be better
If you can afford the difference get the Pro version, if not the MS version isnt that cut down if you are coming from Ver 6!
