| Samsung SMX-C10 Video Stretched Vertically
Has anyone else come across this problem?
I recentley bought a Samsung SMX-C10 from QVC UK. The user guide says it can record in:
TV Super Fine 720x576(50i)
TV Fine 720x576(50i)
TV Normal 720x576(50i)
as well as some web ones for uploading to Youtube etc.
To me this means PAL mode in 4:3.
The video is an MP4 (H.264/AVC).
On playback on my computer, using it's own software called "Intelli-Studio", (which is also on the camcorder itself) the video plays back as Widescreen and looks fine. If I play the video in Quicktime, VCL or Windows Media Player the video is sort of stretched, so people in it look tall, if you know what I mean!
In VLC, the properties says it is (as the user guide says), 720x576. But if I go to options etc and force/tell VLC to play in in Widesreen 16:9 the video looks OK! But of course when first played in default mode it reverts to 4:3.
So even though it is supposed to be recording in TV 4:3 mode it seems to be actually recording in Widescreen but the video players still see it as 4:3!
Within it own software, Intelli-studio, I can save it as an WMV file clicking on 16:9 and it all works OK, giving a good widescreen video, but I don't want to do that with every video I record!
I have phoned Samsung and no joy there, I don't think the person on the other end new much anyway!
I know I can send the camcorder back, but I would like to sort it out as I do like it.
As it is so new out, there is very little I can find on the internet other than info that it is new on the market!
This is driving me crazy!
