Sony TG3E Help Required AVCHD

Hi,

I have a TG3e and im hoping that someone can help me please.

At the moment when I want to watch my videos I simply pop the memory stick into the PS3 and it plays as an AVCHD file, quality is fantastic. It also stores the date as a subtitle which is very important to me. Obviously I need to reuse the memory stick so I need another way of watching the footage.

My question is can I put the contents onto a DVD so they will play back in exactly the same way. I dont want to edit or do anything to the footage.

I have tried burning the AVCHD folder from the memory stick to a DVD as a data disc but this does not work?

How can I burn an AVCHD disc to a dvd so I can keep subtitles etc?

Your help is appreciated

Cheers

You can burn AVCHD files to normal DVD blanks using the Picture Motion Browser (PMB) software that comes with the camera. They will play fine on your PS3 and you can load them onto it's hard drive if needed.

You do realise that a DVD copy wont look anywhere near as nice as your original memory stick version? Less than half good I would say. You not tempted to transfer over as an MP4 file, could get waaaaay better results?

Not true - I beg to differ - the DVD copy in AVCHD mode will be in 1080 HD quality, same as the original file, when played on a BD or PS3 player, which is the only way you can play it.

Really, I didn't know that. How do you burn it in AVCHD mode? You may have unwittingly answered all my TG3 woes with one post.

Re: Sony TG3E Help Required AVCHD

The Picture Motion Browser software has an option "Create an AVCHD (HD) disc" from it's startup menu item: "Disc Creation".
Don't forget to check for updates, as there have been some.
