bad tearing

I borrowed a friends camcorder to shoot some wedding footage(not sure of the model but I know its standard def) and then I used the card reader on my samsung NC10 to get the footage onto my nas drive.... Now we have come to watch it back and to be honest I am amazed at how much tearing there is when people are moving etc, even outside in decent daylight, on the camcorder screen it doesnt seem to appear... so could it be down to the fact I used a slow netbook to get the footage from the sd card (not edited at all, just dragged over) or is this an isse with the cheaper rnage of sd camcorders???

Cheers
