Filming birds/wildlife

Hi all, what sort of cameras do members use for bird and wildlife filming? Has anyone used a birding scope with an attachment? Suggestions please.

this is where a cam like my sony Fx7 comes to the fore, great zoom and manual contols, it depends what you whant to spend, small consumer cams are a struggle i also have a Canon HV30 and its great but for wildlife its the FX all the way,i have seen people using cams with scopes connected but with mini dv.Consumer cams lenses can be extended with 2x converters so they can be used of course but for this type of filming a larger cam has many advantages.

Is 20x times ok for filling the frame without getting to close to small birds?

Yes on 30x the 35mm equivalent is748 mm but it also has a D extender that does not lose any real noticable quality making it 1122 mm, but for real close zooms you need a good tripod.
