Adobe Premiere CS4: Output aspect query

I have edited some video clips using Premiere Pro CS4 and for some reason when I export it, it always either puts black bands across the top, or squashes the video to force 4:3 even though i'm selecting wide screen settings and it shows the preview exactly how I want it. Any ideas anyone? It's really frustrating me.

it may be that you've captured/recorded the original footage in 4:3. Do the people in your footage appear to tall when you export it?

Are you using Media Encoder or exporting directly from Premiere Pro? Try using Encoder, it works much better.

Re: Adobe Premiere CS4: Output aspect query

It was definitely recorded in widescreen and the raw footage looks fine, it's just when i edit some clips together, it exports like 4:3.

I am using Media Encoder.

Re: Adobe Premiere CS4: Output aspect query

can you do a screenshot of your settings (video tab) in the export window?
