Talking Panasonic SD20 or Sanyo Xacti HD2000?

I am having real trouble choosing between these two.

Could somebody/people give me some advice and direction.

Cheers.

BUMP

Okay,

I really need some input from you guys, I've got my kids first sports day to video next Wednesday. Please, please give me some advice to which one to go for.

Can someone please tell me the answers to these questions?

- Is the OIS is a real no-goer for the Sanyo Xacti HD2000?

- Is there any real benefit for going for the 1080p 60fps the sanyo gives over the panasonic SD20?

- Does the panasonic have a better sensor than the Xacti HD2000?

Re: Panasonic SD20 or Sanyo Xacti HD2000?

The Sanyo will take better pictures in my opinion particularly in low light.

But the EIS (not OIS) is particularly poor when zoomed in. If you are going to be doing a lot of zooming, then unless you have an unusually steady hand, you may just end up with a lot of jittery shots.

If you can put the Sanyo on a tripod then of course you will be okay and will get the best results. Its a real shame really, because the Sanyo could be something of a classic if it wasn't for the EIS problems.

Thanks Jon.

Great reply, So everything else about the Xacti is fine apart from the EIS. I prefer its handle shape.

Does the 60 fps give any advantage?

60fps could result in smoother motion of sports. But I think there are some challenges when it comes to editing it on anything less than the most powerful PCs. I am not sure all video editing applications can accept it either. Hopefully others can clarify on this.

Not sure if my video below will prove or disprove the above but as a video newbie, I am very pleased with the results.
