Question HD Camcorder with Mic Input under 1000AUD?

Hi fella's,

Looking for a High Def camcorder thats under 1000AUD($800USD?) but has to have a mic input. Does not matter if it has internal HDD or requires memory cards.

Ive found the HF100's are the ticket for just over 1,000AUD but would really prefer to spend less if possible(student!) Is there anything out there?

Need it for a travel/fishing doco . Basically don't want to spend too much incase it never eventuates.

thanks in advance.

Hi this is a UK based forum, of course it welcomes and has members from all over the world, the prices in the UK are often higher and model numbers sometimes different, hopefully you will get some advice, but it may not be the best place to ask a buying question.

thanks in advance.
I believe the Sanyo HD2000 is available Down under but not sure of the price over there. It is full HD and has mic input, uses just SDHC cards. Try it to see if it is OK for you. It is one of the cheaper HD camcorder in the market here. Others are JVC and Samsung in similar price range. Canon, Sony and Panasonic (the big three) are generally priced higher for the same specs. Pricing in Australia may differ so best to check it out locally.

It depends on how steady your hands are while holding the camcorder. There is Image Stabilisation (IS) in the Sanyo HD2000 but unfortunately since it is Electronic IS, it is not as effective as those using Optical IS in the other brands. You need to test it out to see if it is OK for you.
