Panasonic HD Writer - "Media status - Locked"

Hi there, and thanks in advance to anyone who can help me with this problem. i have scoured the forums and the rest of the web and phoned Panasonic but they are too busy to answer calls at the moment!

I have recorded footage on my HDC-SD9 Camcorder using a 16gb Sandisk sd card. When I connect it to my PC to tranfer the data using Panasonic's HD Writer the 'Memory status' info reads "Locked". I have not switched the protection switch on the sd card and really cant figure out what to do to unlock the media as far as I know I haven't actually done anything to lock it in the first place. The previous time I used the camera and sd card there was no problem and I have done nothing different. Please help as I really need to get this footage off or I am in deep s....!

...in case it isn't clear in my initial post, the "Memory status: Locked" is part of the info displayed when i am using the HD Writer software, not displayed on the camera, thanks.
